A brief Note on e Learning
E-learning refers to the delivery of learning and training
by means of advanced technologies, such as the Internet,
Intranet, CD-ROM, audio/video tape, DVD, cell phones,
PDA, or personal organizers. E-Learning provides content
through visual graphics, text, audio, and video and may
require human interaction through the use of online simulations
and exercises that will enable learners to hear, see,
practice and even speak, thus increasing retention rate.
Learners also have the choice to repeat and go over and
over their course material, which enable them to obtain
better retention.
E-learning courses are easily accessible on a 24/7 basis which allows learners to proceed through at any time that is convenient to them and from anywhere. It also facilitates learners to learn at their convenience and pace, they can choose to speed up or slow down the learning process as necessary.
With the freedom and flexibility of e-Learning comes responsibility. The online process takes a real commitment and discipline to keep up with the flow of the process. Learners have to be self-motivated and self-disciplined and be willing to commit at least an hour a day for 15 days to successfully complete the course.
Learners may face problems related to technology such as bandwidth issues, lack of technology skills, problems in accessing files and content, etc., and are advised to contact ‘technical help desk’ to resolve such issues.
